The nightcap was a pivotal matchup against WCAABE with the top section seed on the line. It turned out to be a roller coaster ride for the wrestlers, coaches, and fans as neither team managed to win more than two matches in a row. Throughout the dual and even the matches one side of the gym would be up on their feet, then down as the other side rose in cheer. It started with a hard-fought decision for Revering at 106. Followed with an upset come from behind fall for the Knights at 113. Larson evened up the dual with another close decision for the Raiders. Justin Koehn stepped in at 126 to earn the fall and gave us the 12-6 lead. The Knights cut the margin in half with a decision at 132. 138 featured a rematch of the Section Championship from a year ago. Once again, in a highly contested match, Jason Koehn prevailed 7-4. WCAABE made quick work at 145 and the dual was tied 15-15 at the midway point. The Knights added a bonus point with a major decision at 152 and in come from behind fashion Mason Schroeder earned the fall at 160 to make 21-19 BHVPP. The Knights took the lead 22-21 at 170 with a decision. Gideon Ervasti swung the momentum back our way with a major decision at 182 for the 25-22 lead with three matches to go. At 195 pounds, it looked as if we would settle in and wrap things up until a come from behind pin was recorded by the Knights for the 28-25 lead. WCAABE sent out their #9 ranked 220-pounder to possible put the match our of reach and it looked as he would do that in the first period, but fortunately for us time expired. In the second period Finck was on his back again fighting to survive and keep our hopes alive. When all of a sudden, he rolled his opponent through and it was over with a fall. Craig Orlando put the finishing touches on the dual with a quick pin at heavyweight and the Raiders survived an upset scare going away 37-28 earning the number one seed in the section tournament. It was an all around great dual by two great teams that had everyone on the edge of their seat from start to finish. There are a lot of matches that could change when/if we see each other again. However, on this night things happened to go our way. The match scores were as followed:

On Saturday, it was our annual BHVPP Invitational in Parkers Prairie with 10 teams and over 225 wrestlers. The wrestling started shortly after 9am and we had it all wrapped up by 4pm so people could be disappointed by the Vikings. The Raiders started out strong and never looked back getting bonus points in majority of matches won. At 106, Revering had three falls to earn his first varsity Championship. At 113, Deagen Captain took home the crown wrestling less than a minute on the day. Runner-up honors went to Bennet Arceneau who also recorded two pins. Larson held his seed taking home third while Eli Eggert claimed 6th at 120. Thompson opened with a tech fall victory and close the day with a fall for 5th at 126. Blake Sumstad also saw his varsity appearance at 126 pounds. At 132, Justin Koehn finished 7th while big brother Jason took home top honors at 138 pounds. Gauge Malone made the most of his first varsity appearance at 145 pound pinning his first two opponents and the bronze podium spot. Peterson jumped from a seven seed to finish 5th in a deep weight at 152. Mason Schroeder and Hunter Dean each took five seed and claimed 3rd going 3-1 on the day at 160 and 170 respectively. BHVPP went 6-0 at 182 pounds as Gideon Ervasti pinned his way to the top of the podium while Carter Rokes was runner-up. BHVPP went 4-2 at 195 pounds as Koal Plautz took advantage of being on the other side of the bracket in his first varsity appearance as he rattled off two come from behind pins for the silver medal. Eggert came back for 3rd as both lost to the only undefeated wrestler in bracket. Finck picked up three falls en route to a bronze placing and Orlando crushed his three opponents for yet another individual championship. When the dust settled, the margin of victory was an impressive 85 points over second place. The JV/JH also had a very nice day going 30-25 overall with five champions and eight runner-up placers out of the nineteen kids. Most impressively the entire team was a +24 in falls combined for the tournament. Hudson Truax, Evan Jares, Cayden Kimber, Abby Ervasti, and Hunter Strom were our five JV/JH Champions.
