Spartans Earn MCAC Southern Division Win Over Western Tech

The M State Spartans led 40-35 at halftime and were able to extend their lead in the second half as they recorded 49 points over the final twenty minutes, while holding Western Technical College to just 31 second half points to take an 89-66 victory over the Cavaliers.

The Spartans made 49% (31-63) of their shots from the floor and connected on 14-of-30 (46.7%) of their 3’s.  Alend Alemadi made 5-of-7 three’s and led M State with 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists.  Alex Hendricks scored 15, hitting 5-of-9 from beyond the arc.  He also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Jonas Baune contributed 12 points and 5 boards, Renell Edwards had 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists off the bench, and Zakaria Zaid had 7 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.  The Spartans assisted on 24 of their 31 made baskets in the game.

Western Tech shot 41% (25-61) overall and 23.5% (4-17) on their 3-point attempts.  They were led by 16 points from Mahlik Lindsey and 13 from Brian HuneckHunter Davis added 11 points.  Jarrell Tarr had a team high 7 rebounds.

M State is 7-8 overall and 1-1 in MCAC Southern Division play.  They will host Minnesota West on Wednesday at 7:00pm in Fergus Falls.  The Spartan Buddies will perform at halftime of that game.
