Makenna Tysdal added 8 points and 6 rebounds for Battle Lake. Halie Johnson contributed 7 points and 9 rebounds, Ady Tysdal had 7 points and 7 boards, and Tessa Kortlever chipped in with 9 rebounds.
“We had a nice defensive game tonight,” said Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “Early on both teams were struggling to score, but we were able to get a small lead midway through the half. Late in the half, the Comets would have a run and close the gap to 20-16 at halftime. In the second half, Grace VanErp scored 10 of her game high 17 points to help us out pace the Comets, 22-12 in the period.”
Leaders for Hillcrest were Mackenzie Foss (8 points, 8 rebounds), Anna Rasmussen (5 points, 6 rebounds), Molly McGuire (5 points, 5 rebounds) and Cassy Twedt (5 points, 5 rebounds).
Battle Lake (4-8) has won three of their last four games and will host Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Tuesday night.
Hillcrest (0-8) will host Park Christian School on Saturday at 3:30pm. The game with Battle Lake began a stretch of seven straight home games for the Comets.
