Cardinal Girls' Rally for 4-3 Win Over Rogers

The Alexandria girls’ hockey team scored four second period goals in their 4-3 victory over Rogers on Thursday night, improving their season record to 10-5-3 and running their winning streak to three games.

Rogers jumped out to a 1-0 lead at 8:02 of the first period when Paige Vreeman scored from Avery Farrell and Allison Hatcher.

Faith Hoppe made it 2-0 at 4:24 of the second period, assisted by Ava Johansson and Ella Achterkirch.  Hatcher’s goal at 5:34 was setup by Vreeman and gave Rogers a 3-0 advantage.

Marki Oberg started the 4-goal onslaught by Alexandria at 6:25, assisted by Ella WestlundLauren Maras cut the lead to 3-2 with an assist from Meg Shercliffe at 11:13.  25 seconds later Kaci Trosvig tied the game with assists going to Mayson Toft and Maras.  The game winner came from Trosvig at 12:10 of the second period, assisted by Maras.

Alexandria goalie Hailee Bailey stopped 27 of the 30 shots she faced, while Rogers goaltender Haley Hartlage made 21 saves.

The Cardinals will host East Grand Forks on Friday night and Fergus Falls next Tuesday.
