The Battle Lake Battlers traveled to Rothsay for a Little Eight boys’ basketball matchup Thursday night.  Battle Lake went into halftime with a 30-29 lead.  The game went back and forth throughout the second half with numerous lead changes, however, Rothsay came out with the 60-55 victory.  The win was the first in twelve games for the Tigers.

“It was an exciting game in the Little Eight tonight,” said Rothsay Head Coach Taylor Fuhs.  “Both teams played hard and hit some big shots in the second half.  I thought our kids really battled and did a lot of the little things to battle through adversity and come out on top.”

Rothsay was led by Colby Larson with 29 points and 5 rebounds, and Sam Danielson with 15 points and 4 steals.

Battle Lake was led by Riley Leabo with 13 and Brennan Amundson with 12.

“We had some good moments,” said Battle Lake Head Coach CJ Peeters.  “We were there the whole game.  Larson had 18 in the second half driving and getting to the lane.  He did a great job for them.  We have a lot to improve on.”

The Tigers will play at Pelican Rapids Friday night and will host Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday night.

Battle Lake (0-7) will play Pelican Rapids at 2:30pm Saturday at Concordia College in Moorhead.
