Cardinal Boys Fall at Home to Brainerd

The Brainerd boys’ hockey team picked up a 4-1 road win over Alexandria on Thursday night at the Runestone Arena.

Haden Kruse scored at 7:10 of the first period, assisted by Christian Kadolph to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead.

A power play goal by Josiah Gronholz tied the game just 21 seconds into the second period.  Caleb Strong and Joe Westlund assisted on the goal.  Brainerd regained the lead at 3:40 when Kruse scored on the power play, from Kadolph and Josh McLain. At 10:59, Kadolph’s power play tally from Kruse and Eric Pohlkamp gave the visitors a 3-1 lead.

The final goal was registered by Mike Laber, from Pohlkamp and Ian Aadland at 5:21 of the third period.

Brainerd goalkeeper Jed Klang stopped 19-of-20 shots and Landyn James of the Cardinals made 21 saves on the night.
