Thacker Scores Tying Goal and Adds Shootout Goal Against DL

Landon Thacker scored a power play goal at 7:30 of the third period to lift the Fergus Falls boys’ hockey team into a 2-2 tie with Detroit Lakes at the Otter Hockey Holiday Classic.  Thacker’s goal was setup by Isaac Young and Kaden Peterson.  Thacker then scored the game winning goal in the shootout, however, per tournament rules the game goes in the official book as a tie.

DL took a 1-0 lead at 10:01 of the opening period when C.J. Kilmer scored from Spencer Bergman and Dominic Denardo.

The Otters tied the game on an Ian Richards goal at 5:09 of the second period with assists from Thacker and Michael DeBrito.  Detroit Lakes took a 2-1 lead with a power play goal by Jacob McAllister, assisted by Jordan Fields and Levi Gross.

Ben Swanson turned in a stellar performance in the net, stopping 27 of 29 Laker shots on goal.  Fergus Falls put 37 shots on DL goalie Jack Hines, who came up with 35 saves.

The Otters are 4-8-1 as they prepare to host Warroad on Friday night and Crookston on Saturday afternoon.
