The Battle Lake girls’ basketball team led 28-27 at the half and went on to record a 60-57 win over Lake park-Audubon to claim third place in the Valkyrie Division of the Pelican Rapids Holiday Tournament.

“The girls played a nice game start to finish today,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “We got off to a good start with a small opening lead but the Raiders kept fighting back and we held a slim lead at the half. Etta Miosek scored 10 of her game high 18 points in the first half.  We had a tough time stopping her as she dominated inside. In the second half we were able to extend the lead to 10, but the Raider made a run to tie the game late. A rebound put back and free throw by Tessa Kortlever gave us the three point margin to finish.”

Makenna Tysdal registered a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds).  Emmie Lundqist, Ady Tysdal and Halie Johnson all contributed 10 points and Grace VanErp had 6 steals and 6 assists.

Grace Schauer scored 12 points and Kay Pederson added 11 for LPA.
The lady Battlers are now 2-7.  They will host Rothsay on Friday night.
