The Hornets were led by Paige Ziegler (16 points, 6 rebounds) and Paige Oswald (16 points, 4 rebounds). Madison Starry added 9 points and 5 rebounds, and Talia Gabrielson pulled down a team high 10 boards while contributing 7 points.
Grace VanErp led Battle Lake with 9 points and 9 rebounds. Emmie Lundquist scored 8 points, Makenna Tysdal and Ady Tysdal added 7 points each and Halie Johnson had 7 points and a team high 11 boards. Tessa Kortlever chipped in with 6 points and 9 rebounds.
“The girls played well today, improving greatly from our first meeting with Frazee,” commented Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso. “We did a nice job of handling their pressure and did a nice job putting some points on the board. At the half, we trailed 30-37. In the second half, we struggled to score and quickly fell behind by double digits. Frazee shot the ball better and we just couldn’t keep up.”
Frazee will play for the Valkyrie championship Saturday against the winner of the Breckenridge vs Lake Park-Audubon contest, while Battle Lake will play for third place against the loser of that contest between the Cowgirls and Raiders.
