Lady Knights Win in Wheaton

The West Central Area Lady Knights traveled to Wheaton to take on the Warriors in a conference and section match-up on Thursday night. 

The Knights jumped out to an early lead, but the Wwarriors battled back.  Each time the Knights would increase the lead to double digits it would be cut to a single digit lead. The Knights would lead at halftime 33 - 21.  The second half, the Knights came out and built a 17 point lead to have the Warriors cut it down to 6 points.  The Knights would make Free-Throws and a few late lay-ups to walk away with a 57-44 victory. 

“The first half was one of our best halves of basketball this season, and credit the Warriors for making life difficult in the second half,” commented WCA Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer.  “Our communication on the floor was strong tonight and it was a big reason we built a significant lead.” 

The Lady Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 17 points, 2, rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Hailey Bennett played a very strong game and had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist.  Brynn Fernholz had 7 points, 6 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist.  Brooke Anderson scored 5 points on a perfect 2 for 2 shooting tonight.  Claire Stark had 4 points, 5 rebounds, an assist and a rejection.  Kaitlyn Hansen had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist. Kennedy Ulrich had 3 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal on the night.  Elizabeth Rustan had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and an assist.  Kaylyn Ulrich had 1 point and a steal.  Teagan Nelson had 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Ireland Winter had a rebound and she did a lot of the little things to get others open on offense.
