Alexandria had 38 shots on goal compared to just 6 for the Otter girls on Thursday night as the Cardinals registered a 5-0 win over Fergus Falls.

“We were beaten by a hungry team tonight,” said Otter Head Coach Tim Lill.  “Our girls never gave up, however, Alex outskilled us.  We will learn from it and take the sting to practice.  I’m very proud of the third period effort.”

Anna Doherty scored an unassisted goal at 16:05 of the first period, giving Alexandria a 1-0 lead.  The Otters didn’t have a shot in the first 17 minutes.

The Cardinals erupted for four second period goals, beginning when Ella Westlund found the back of the net from Lauren Maras just 22 seconds into the period.  At 6:55 Marki Oberg scored from Kaci Trosvig and at 14:46 Maras scored from Hanley Block and Mayson Toft.  Doherty’s second goal of the game, at 16:50, was setup by Kaci Trosvig.

Jordan O’Kane stopped all six Fergus Falls shots and Lexi Metcalf had 33 saves on 38 shots on goal.

Lexi Metcalf turned aside 33 Alexandria shots on goal.
