Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie opened their wrestling season with a busy week and a successful week as they started with three wins in four matches.

The season got underway the first week of December with a home quadrangular in Bertha on Tuesday.  The Raiders got out to an early lead against Osakis in the first round as David Revering pinned for the win. Deagen Captain followed it up with a major decision and three forfeits for Aiden Larson, Reese Thompson, and Justin Koehn extended the lead to 28-0 before the Silverstreaks took three of the next four weight classes.  Jason Koehn sprinkled in the decision as the Raiders added falls from Mason Schroeder and Hunter Dean.  Add a decision for Jaden Finck and forfeits for Gideon Ervasti and Craig Orlando as the Raiders stormed for the 58-18 victory.

The middle round of the quad matched us against Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus.  It was a dual of momentum as BHVPP opened with Bennet Arceneau’s first career win by fall as we bumped the bottom four weights up to start the dual.  Revering, Captain, Larson, and Thompson all got the job done up a weight earning decisions for the 18-0 head start.  The Road Crew paused the bleeding with a fall before Jason Koehn added a major decision.  The Road Crew got back to back to back falls and took the lead at 24-22.  However, the Raiders surged in the top four weights with pins from Dean, Finck, and Orlando, and a major decision for Ervasti for the 44-24 win.

The nightcap was a top ten matchup as we hosted third ranked Minnewaska.  The Raiders took control of the match out of the gate with three pins from Revering, Captain, and Larson.  The Lakers swung the momentum at 126 with a come from behind pin as they rattled off three pins in a row to tie the dual at 18-18.  Jason Koehn added a pin before the strength of the Lakers took over winning the next six matches before Orlando finished the night with a decision as the Raiders fell 51-27.

On Thursday of the opening week, it was a road trip to New York Mills for a PRC North battle.  After a double forfeit at 106, Revering took the forfeit and Captain added a pin for the 12-6 lead.  NYM evened up the score with a fall before Thompson had two late third period takedowns for an 8-7 decision in a pivotal match.  NYM rallied for the next four weight classes with three pins and a decision for the 27-15 lead.  Schroeder turned the table with a fall.  Dean pinned his opponent and the dual was tied with two weights to go.  Finck earned a major decision and Orlando finished it off by fall for the 37-27 final.  The individual match results were as followed:
