The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team defeated the Rothsay Tigers 70-45 in a Little Eight Conference contest on Thursday night. The Arrows led 37-24 at the halftime break.

Ashby had a balanced scoring attack.  Jacob Cook led the way with 17 points.  Noah Johnson and Jaden Norby had 14 apiece.  Hunter Norby was next with 12.  Noah, Hunter, Jaden, and Jacob each grabbed 7 rebounds.  The Arrows shot 55% (29/53) from the field.

Solid bench play from Torin Olson, Bobby Anderson, and Derrek Bartz enabled the Arrows to end the half with a good working margin.  Ashton Ecker led an aggressive Arrow defense.  “The defense was active but the Tigers capitalized by making plays that got us to foul,” noted Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.  “They shot 21 free throws to our 7.”

Rothsay was led by Tanner Heier with 15 points.

The win was the Arrows third straight Little Eight Conference victory of the season.  Ashby has two non-conference contests next week.  Tuesday they travel to Pelican Rapids to take on the Vikings and Thursday in a girls/boys doubleheader face the Swanville Bulldogs in Ashby.

Rothsay will take on Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday night.
