Flyers Defeat Otters in Boys Hockey

Little Falls outshot Fergus Falls 35-18 on Saturday afternoon as the Flyers defeated the Otters in a high school boys’ hockey contest by the score of 6-1.

 

Little Falls scored three first period goals to take a 3-1 lead. Ryan Buckallew started the scoring with an assist from Nicholas Stevens just sixteen seconds into the game.  Noah Tarczon tied the game at 2:57 with Cole Zierden getting the assist.  Gunnar Gustafson’s power play goal from Joe Majerle and Robby Kuchinski-Helgeson at 9:40 gave the Flyers a 2-1 lead and a goal by Stevens, setup by Gabe Hirsch put the score at 3-1 after one period.

In the second period, Mason Doble scored from Hayden Johnson and Majerle at 2:31 and Stevens added a power play goal from Reece Hubbard and Matt Filippi at 6:40 as the Flyers built their lead to 5-1.

A third period goal by Gabe Hirsch ended the scoring.  Stevens earned an assist on the goal.

Dane Couture made 17 saves in the Little Falls net and Ben Swanson came up with 29 stops on 35 shots in the Fergus Falls net.
