Alexandria Beats Willmar in Battle of Cardinals

Alexandria put 42 shots on goal Thursday night in an 8-0 win over Willmar.  Alexandria goalie Christopher Loken stopped all fifteen shots he faced.

 

Alexandria took a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by Caleb Strong and Cole Walters.  Strong was assisted by Shane Birkeland and Joe Westlund, and Walters was assisted by Matthew Carlsen and Josiah Gronholz.

Jacob Partington made it 3-0 with a goal from Brennen Bretch and Brennan Lattimer at 6:19 of the second period.  An unassisted goal by Gronholz made it 4-0 at 11:52 and a goal by Grant Rebrovich at 16:11, setup by Wetlund put Alexandria in front 5-0 after two periods.

Partington notched an unassisted goal at 3:12 of the third, followed at 6:17 by a goal by Westlund, assisted by Joe Bigger.  Gronholz got his second unassisted goal of the night, shorthanded, at 12:10.
