The Ada-Borup Cougars hosted Pelican Rapids in a non-conference boys’ basketball game on Thursday night.  The home team led 40-26 at the half and held on for a 73-68 win over the Vikings.

“Ada-Borup was able to open up that double digit lead on us towards the end of the first half and extended their lead to 20 to start out the second half,” said Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “Our guys did a nice job of battling back as we gave ourselves a couple of shots to tie it late that didn’t go down. We just dug ourselves to deep of a hole in that first half and you can’t do that against a good team like the Cougars.”

Leading scorers for Pelican Rapids were Jayden Rutherford with 21, McHale Korf with 17 and Timmy Guler with 11.

Preston Gwin scored 22 to lead Ada-Borup.  Verdis Barber contributed 16 and Jennings Lee had 11.
