The Alexandria Gymnastics team is young, but they have depth on the roster as Tayler Kaufman begins year two as Head Coach in the program.  Kaufman will be assisted by Adrienne Meyer and Nichole Boyden, along with spotter Tim Doyle.

“We are coming into the season with a lot of depth, giving everyone opportunities to contribute to our overall team score,” noted Kaufman.  “The newcomers have trained and competed alongside last years’ varsity team when they were younger and all in the club circuit.  The atmosphere in the gym is electric and everyone is excited for this season!”

The Cardinals lost Sydney Gray, a state qualifier on floor exercise, to graduation, but return letter winners Kaylee Meyer (SR), Rachel Boyden (JR), Hallie Kent (SO) and Amaya Hughes (FR).  New varsity prospects include Kelsey Fletcher (JR), Ailynn Fettig (SO), Izzy Kent (FR) and Sara Eddy (8th).

“Our goals this season are to have a winning attitude, work hard, compete together and have fun,” said Kaufman.  “The one thing we can control every day of our life is our attitude and I expect our athletes to have great attitude.  Also, the value of hard work can never be underestimated.  We hope that the lesson of hard work learned in gymnastics will carry over into all aspects of the athlete’s life, both present and future.  High school sports should be memorable experiences that foster life-long relationships and memories.  We want to create an environment in which the athletes will have a positive and enjoyable gymnastics season.”

Kaufman says Willmar and Sartell are the top teams in the Central Lakes Conference, while Sartell and Brainerd will be favorites in Section competition.
