Mikenna Pattrin (16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 steals) and Haddey Zastrow (12 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals) led the Brandon-Evansville girls’ basketball team in their 48-19 win over Battle Lake on Tuesday night.

B-E shot 27% (16-58) from the field, 35% (5-14) on 3’s and 61% (11-18) on free throws.

“Great defensive effort all game tonight for the girls,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Zach Traphagen. “It was a good lesson for us to learn that sometimes making shots can come and go, but defensive effort and intensity should always be there, and that was the case tonight. We have a lot to improve on moving forward, but it’s always a positive to get a conference win on the road.”

Battle Lake was led by 9 points from Tessa Kortlever and 5 from Emmie Lundquist.

“Tonight we played hard defensively, but really struggled to put the ball in the basket,” reported Battle Lake Head Coach David Marso.  “In the first half we held the Chargers down early, but their full court pressure wore us down and our turnovers were converted to Charger points.  I was happy with our half-court defense.  The turnovers hurt us badly and often kept us from setting up in our half-court offense.”
