Barnesville placed four players in double digits and dominated the boards (43-21) on Tuesday night as the Trojans earned a 7347 victory over Battle Lake in high school boys’ basketball.

Adam Tonsfeldt poured in 21 points and added 8 steals to lead the Trojans.  Jack Neilson scored 16 points off the bench, hitting three 3’s in the first half.  Hunter Zenzen (17 points, 6 rebounds) and Kaden Zenzen (14 points, 8 rebounds) were also in double figures.  Matt Samuelson pulled down 12 rebounds and came up with 7 steals.

Barnesville made 24-of-70 (34%) of their field goal attempts and 19-of-25 free throws.  The Trojans also had 22 steals.

Battle Lake struggled to take care of the ball, turning it over 35 times.  Riley Leabo and Brennan Amundson each scored 11 points to lead the Battlers.

“We have a ton of work to do,” said Battle Lake Head Coach CJ Peeters.  “We cannot show up like this and expect to be close.  It was a tough loss, we didn’t show up at all and tried to do things out of our ability.  We have hard working, great kids, we just had a really rough night to start the year.  We don’t have any time to dwell, we have two more games this week, at West Central Area and at Brandon-Evansville.  Then we have Parkers Prairie and Henning.  This is a great stretch of great basketball and we can compete when we are locked in.  That just wasn’t us tonight.”

Barnesville will travel to play Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Friday night.
