Hat Trick by Andrews and Playmaker by Zierden Lead Otters Past DL

Piper Andrews recorded a hat trick and Jade Zierden added a goal and three assists as the Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team ended a four game losing streak with a 6-0 win in Detroit Lakes on Tuesday night.

The Otters put 51 shots on goal and Detroit Lakes managed just 9 shots on Fergus Falls goalie Ana Jyrkas.

Maddie Hulter got the Otters on the board with an even strength goal at 11:10 of the first period with assists from Ellie Andersen and Zierden.

At 6:54 of the second period Andrews tallied her first goal with Hope Goepferd assisting.  Andrews then scored a power play goal from Zierden and Chloe Nelson at 11:43.  Nelson’s goal from Vivian Karsnia at 13:21 of the second gave the Otters a 4-0 lead.

Zierden scored from Hulter at 7:01 of the third period and a second power play goal by Andrews completed the scoring and her hat trick at 16:07.  Zierden and Hulter assisted on the tally.

Fergus Falls is now 3-5 on the season.  They will travel to East Grand Forks on Saturday for a 2:00pm contest with the Greenwave.
