Mound-Westonka led 3-0 after two periods and held on for a
3-1 victory over the Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team on
Friday night.

Brooke Pioske scored an unassisted goal at 10:04 of the first period.  Brittney Davis made it 2-0 just sixteen seconds into period number two with assists from Grace Peterson and Kailey Niccum.  At 15:06 Avery Finck upped the lead to 3-0 with an assist from Alexa Niccum.

Fergus Falls notched their only goal at 5:49 of the third when Ellie Andersen scored from Jade Zierden and Maddie Hulter.

The White Hawks had 28 shots against goaltender Lexi Metcalf and the Otters put 20 shots on Callie Nelson.

“We lost to a quality team tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.  “We are improving every game and will turn the corner soon.  Liz Mattson was a bull, dominating every puck battle.  I’m very proud of her.”

Fergus Falls will play at Detroit Lakes on Tuesday night.
