The Fergus Falls Otters will compete in Class 2A this year as their enrollment numbers dropped them down a class.  They will battle teams in Section 8AA in the post season, with Perham, Breckenridge and DGF all expected to be in the hunt, along with the Otters, for the section title.

Graduation hurt the Otters as they lost Matt Johnson (U of Mary), Nic Pearson (M State – Fergus Falls), Ashwin Stratton (Baseball at Concordia) and Bauer Rogelstad, however, the Otters do return starters Dominic Aguilar (JR) and Parker Jacobs (SR).  Other returners with varsity experience included seniors Brock Kotschevar, Cody Norgren and Ethan Olson, and junior Chance Fazio.

Newcomers to the varsity will be senior guards Jack Culbertson and Jacob Spangler, junior guard Abel Aho, and sophomore wing Luke Newman.

“We have a bunch of blue collar, lunch pail, players,” commented fifth year head coach Matt Johnson.  “They give a great effort and have worked to improve in the off-season.  Our goal this year is to improve each day so that we can reach our potential on and off the court.  Team chemistry will be a strength, making each day a lot of fun.  We are counting on our senior leadership to be really good and they set the tone for us in how we expect our team to operate.”

Johnson says the Central Lakes Conference will be talented and competitive, top to bottom.
