Westlund Scores 2 Power Play Goals as Cardinals Top Flyers 3-1

The Alexandria boys’ hockey team made a 3-1 first period lead hold up throughout the game on Tuesday as they posted a victory over Little Falls at the Exchange Arena.  Shots were close with the Flyers putting 24 pucks on the Alexandria net and the Cardinals recording 23 shots on goal.

 

Ryan Buckallew gave the home team an early 1-0 lead, converting a pass from Gabe Hirsch at 3:13 of the first period.  A pair of Joe Westlund power play goals put Alexandria in front, 2-1.  The first came at 8:47 and the second at 13:22, both assisted by Derek Pesta and Andrew Revering.  The Cardinals made it 3-1 on an unassisted goal by Brycen Berg at 15:05.

Alexandria goalie Landyn James stopped 23 shots on the night.
