Following a scoreless first period the Sartell/Sauk Rapids girls hockey team scored twice in the second period and went on to post a 4-1 victory over the Otters at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.

Morgan Cromwell got the scoring started with a goal less than five minutes into the second period with assists from Mackenzy Heder and Mallory Heder.  A goal by Rachel Wieland was assisted by Taylor Scepaniak and Anna Orth, increasing the lead to 2-0.

In the third period Nora Sauer scored from Orth less than a minute in to make it 3-0.  Ellie Andersen scored the Fergus Falls goal on the power play, assisted by Lexi McGary and Piper Andrews.  Rachel Wieland scored her second goal of the night with an assist from Mallory Heder with under five minutes left in the game, closing out the scoring.

“Great effort tonight, we played with a lot of energy,” said Head Coach Tim Lill of the Otters.  “Ellie Andersen brought her ‘A’ game.  I haven’t seen her play that focused all year.  It was a phenomenal effort!”

The Otters will play at Mound-Westonka on Friday.
