Stumbo Records Shutout as Otter Boys Open with 2-0 Win in DL

Junior goaltender Ian Stumbo stopped all 17 shots he faced as the Fergus Falls boys hockey team opened the season with a 2-0 road win in Detroit Lakes on Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Isaac Johnson netted his first varsity goal with an assist from Noah Tarczon at 13:59 of the first period.

The Otters second goal came with just 1:06 remaining in the second period when Sterling Andrews scored from Isaac Young and Mike DeBrito.

Fergus Falls had 22 shots on goal and Detroit Lakes goalie Jack Hines stopped 20 of them.

Fergus Falls killed off five penalties and also went 0-for-5 on the power play.

The Otters will travel to St. Cloud to face Cathedral on Tuesday night at 7;15pm.
