The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team suffered a 5-1 loss to Hutchinson on Saturday afternoon at the Community Ice Arena.

“Not our best effort as a team today,” said Head Coach Tim Lill.  “The girls know that and understand that it will take a lot of work in practice to fine tune our game.  We are excited to get back on the horse Monday.”

Hutchinson scored in the first minute of the game when Alex Hantge found the back of the net off an assist from Britta Johnson.  Fergus Falls pulled even with 7:24 left in the first period on an unassisted goal by Maddie Hulter.  A goal by Marlee Harlander, again assisted by Johnson, gave Hutchinson a 2-1 lead after one period.

The Tigers took a 3-1 lead with a goal midway through the second period.  Sabrina Tracy scored from Johnson and Ellie Campbell.

A pair of third period goals, the first by Hantge and the second by Ainslea Jensen completed the scoring and gave the visitors the 5-1 victory.

Shots were even at 23 for each team.

The Otters will host Sartell/Sauk Rapids-Rice on Tuesday night at 7:15.
