Ice Breakers Shut Down Otter Girls

St. Cloud scored twice in the first period, added three second period goals and notched another goal in the third period as they handed the Fergus Falls girls hockey team a 6-0 loss on Tuesday night at the Community Ice Arena in Fergus Falls.  The Ice Breakers had 28 shots on goal and Fergus Falls managed 21.

Taylor Mathiasen scored the first goal with assists from Ella Murphy and Dorothy Benson at 6:41 of the opening period.  Gabbie Rud’s goal at 16:10 was setup by Katherine Bell and gave St. Cloud a 2-0 lead.

Mathiasen scored a power play goal from Jordan Swingle at 6:38 of the second period and Bell added an unassisted goal at the fourteen minute mark.  At 16:51 Taylor Holm made it 3-0 with assists going to Calley Davidson and Ally Breidenbach.

Rud assisted on Mathiasen’s third goal of the night at 8:51 of the final period.

Ashlea Arvidson recorded the shutout in the St. Cloud goal and Lexi Metcalf came up with 22 saves for Fergus Falls.

The Otters (2-2) will host Hutchinson at 1:00pm Saturday.
