Otter Girls Dominate Prairie Center in 5-0 Win

Five different players scored goals for Fergus Falls on Tuesday night as the Otters put 54 shots on goal in a 5-0 victory over Prairie Center in a Section 6A Girls Hockey contest in Sauk Centre. 

“Nice to get the first win against a section foe,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Tim Lill.

Ellie Andersen got the Otters on the scoreboard just 1:05 into the opening period off an assist from Piper Andrews.

A shorthanded goal by Gabby Brimhall at 1:38 of the second period put the Otters in front by the score of 2-0.  A goal at 5:27 by Liz Mattson was assisted by Desirae Maack and Talia NelsonMaddie Hulter tallied a power play goal at 7:01, assisted by Andrews as the Otters built their lead to 4-0 after two periods.

Fergus Falls scored their second shorthanded goal at 3:36 of the third period when Chloe Nelson scored from Abbi Jensen

Eighth-grader Lexi Metcalf made her first varsity start in goal, but wasn’t tested as the Blue Devils only put two pucks on the Fergus Falls net during the game.

Prairie Center eighth-grader Kennedy Lemke turned aside 49 Otter shots on goal as Fergus Falls spent nearly the entire night on the attack.

Fergus Falls (2-0) will host Red Wing on Friday night at the Community Arena.
