Barnesville remained unbeaten, advancing to the Class 2A State semifinals with a 28-6 win over Osakis on Saturday afternoon at Moorhead High School.  The win puts them up against defending state champion, Caledonia, at 11:30am Friday, November 15 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

“Elements were tough, cold on the hands, had two fumbles by starters coming into this game and put the ball on the ground and lost three times today,” commented Head Coach Bryan Strand.  “Defensively I felt we played pretty well, few missed tackles here and there but they are a very good team, need to clean that up before next week.  Adam Tonsfeldt had a terrific game, 23 rushes for 218 yards and 3 TD's, he played outstanding all day long.”

Adam Tonsfeldt scored the first two touchdowns of the game on runs of 3 yards and 8 yards in the first quarter.  A two-point conversion run by Cameron Heng after the second TD gave the Trojans a 14-0 lead after the opening quarter.

In the second quarter Tonsfeldt hooked up with Hunter Zenzen on an 8-yard TD pass to make it a 20-0 game at halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Tonsfeldt scored a fourth quarter touchdown on a 5-yard run and a Heng conversion run increased the Barnesville lead to 28-0.  Osakis got on the board when Isaac Hetland broke loose for a 25 yard touchdown run, putting the final at 28-6.

Defensively, Jackson Wahl intercepted a pass, Connor Morse forced a fumble and Hunter Anderson and Joey Mark each had a fumble recovery. Tackle leaders were Brady Kroll (4 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles) and Aaron Schiefert (2 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles).

“Caledonia is next, they are very good,” said Coach Strand.  “They have the longest win streak in the nation and will be a tough test, but one that our kids want.  We have nothing to lose in this one, they are defending four time state champs, we are just the challengers.  Need a great week of practice.”
