Otter Girls Fall to Bloomington Jefferson 3-2 in Season Opener

The Fergus Falls girls’ hockey team was scoreless on five power play opportunities on Saturday afternoon in a 3-2 opening day loss to Bloomington Jefferson.

Ellie Andersen got the Otters on the board at the 7:08 mark of the first period with an assist going to Maddie Hulter.

The Jaguars pulled even on an unassisted goal by Cayla Jungwirth at 5:40 of the second period.

Hulter’s goal at 3:03 of the third period gave the Otters a 2-1 lead.  Piper Andrews and Ellie Andersen assisted on the goal.  A power play goal by Bella Grant at 10:44 was assisted by Morgan Jones and Grace Shuck, tying the game at 2-2.  At 15:36 Abby Longhenry scored the game winning goal on the power play with an assist from Meghan Wendorf.

Fergus Falls held a 28-18 advantage in shots on goal, but Jefferson netminder Chasity Anderson stopped 26 of the Otter shots.  Ana Jyrkas stopped 15 of the 18 Bloomington Jefferson shots on goal.
