Otter Bowlers Sweep Conference Tournament

Fergus Falls varsity and number one JV team both won their conference bowling tournaments on Sunday, sending both to postseason play.  The varsity will advance to the Class A Super Regional in St Cloud on Saturday, Nov 23, and JV Black will go directly to the JV State Tournament in Bloomington on Sunday, Nov 24.

The Otter varsity qualified as the number two seed after eight games of qualifying, putting them against the number three seed, New York Mills, in the four-team bracket.  Fergus Falls won the two-game-total-pin semi-final match by 18 pins, sending them to the final against Detroit Lakes.  The Otters were down 26 pins after game one, but roared back in game two, taking the win by 71 pins.  Kaitlyn Krensing (89%) and Atlanta Goulet (75%) were team-high fill percentages for the day.

FF JV Black cruised to the one seed in the qualifying round, and rolled over Bemidji JV in the semi-final, and New York Mills JV in the final.  Ryder Drayton (76%) and Alayna Price (73%) led the team in the sweep.

FF JV Maroon qualified as the number two seed, and went against New York Mills JV in the semi-final, coming up 22 pins short.  JV Maroon dropped the third place match to Bemidji JV by 14 pins.  Sara Johnson (72%) was team-high for Maroon.

FF JV Gold and FF JV Silver did not make it out of the qualifying round.  High fill percentages for the tournament were Abby Tungseth (78%) for Gold, and Wyatt Hegseth (53%) for Silver.

The Future Stars Tournament is for the top 7th and 8th graders in each of the 19 MHSB conferences.  The West Central (North) conference will send two teams to the tournament.  Fergus Falls bowlers, Alayna Price, Sara Johnson, Myia Krensing, Alex Benjamin, Kaydence Knutson, Braden Albert, Abby Tungseth, Kendra Koep, Nolan Korby, and Andrew Muchow all qualified to go.  The tournament will be on Sunday, Dec 1, at Concord Lanes in S St Paul.

The Varsity All-Conference Tournament will be on Saturday, Nov 30, at AMF Southtown in Bloomington.  Zach Kort and Jasmine Benjamin will represent the Otters on team two, and Keisen Wick, Kaitlyn Krensing, and Dylan Obowa will be on West Central (North) team one.  Obowa earned Most Outstanding Player, with the highest fill percentage in the conference, filling 83.08% for the season.

Senior Kaitlyn Krensing earned the coach's nomination to the conference All-Honors Team for her hard work, positive attitude, and sportsmanship.

The MHSB State Singles Boys/Girls Tournaments will be held on Saturday, Dec 14, at Blainbrook Bowl in Blaine.  Obowa, Wick, Krensing and Benjamin will represent Fergus Falls in the tournament.
