Hornets Qualify for First Ever State Volleyball Tournament

The Henning volleyball team qualified for their first ever Class A State Tournament when they defeated Wadena-Deer Creek 3-1 (25-11, 21-25, 25-19, 25-20) on Saturday night in the Section 6A championship match at the ‘Hive’ in Perham.

 

Senior Abi Eckhoff led the attack for the Hornets with 14 kills.  Megan Rinicker and Serena Greenwood added 8 and 7 kills, respectively, while Autumn Grasswick contributed 5 kills.  Setter Sydney Eckhoff did a superb job distributing the ball to her hitters and added 5 solo blocks and 3 ace serves.

The Wolverines were led by Kennedy Gravelle with 14 kills and 5 blocks.  Madison Carsten added 9 kills.

Henning will play at either 1:00pm or 3:00pm in the Class A Quarterfinals on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.  Their opponent will be determined after seedings are completed on Sunday.
