Junior quarterback Preston Rohloff hooked up with senior receiver Daniel Milander on a five yard touchdown pass with twenty seconds remaining in the game on Friday afternoon at the Fargodome, lifting the Hancock Owls to a 24-16 win over Brandon-Evansville in the Section 4 9-Man championship game.  The Owls remained unbeaten on the season and the Chargers end the year with a final record of 9-2, with both losses coming to Hancock.

“Great hard fought game today between 2 great teams,” commented B-E Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “Our seniors; Tanner Bitzan, Keagan Schiele, Marshall Riedel, Tony Schaffran, Andrew Perrin, Sam Fuller, Andy Johnson, Luke Moore, and Nick Lundeen will be missed.  Their leadership both on and off the field has been top notch and great role models for the younger Charger football players.  I couldn't be prouder of this team and what they accomplished this year.”

Following a scoreless first quarter both teams got on the board in the second quarter as the Chargers struck first on a 21-yard run by Kyle Schaffran and a two-point conversion run by Schiele.  Hancock answered with a TD pass from Rohloff to Milander covering 39 yards.  Tyler Timmerman added the two-point conversion run to tie the game at 8-8.

Hancock took a 16-8 lead on a 21-yard run by Timmerman and a two-point conversion pass from Rohloff to Milander with just five seconds to play in the third quarter.

Brandon-Evansville tied the game at 16-16 with five minutes to go when Schiele connected with Riedel for a 15-yard score and Schiele delivered a two-point conversion pass to Tony Schaffran.  The game winning TD pass followed by the two-point run by Timmerman sealed the win for the Owls.

Hancock had 268 (182 rushing, 86 passing) total yards.  They were led by Rohloff who completed 7-of-12 passes for 86 yards and a pair of scores, Timmerman with 149 rushing yards on 24 carries and Milander with four catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Brandon-Evansville finished with 203 (164 rushing, 39 passing) yards of offense.  Riedel ran for 69 yards on 13 carries and Schiele completed 5-of-12 passes for 39 yards.  Bitzan caught two passes for 28 yards.

Hancock advances to the 9-Man State Quarterfinals against Renville County West at 7:00pm Friday, November 8 at Buffalo High School.
