Chargers Eliminate Verndale in Section 4 9-Man Semifinals

Brandon-Evansville had 472 total yards on Saturday in their 34-8 victory over the Verndale Pirates in the Section 4 9-Man semifinals.

 

"The team came to play today,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “We were led by our great group of seniors that put it all on the field.  We had many guys do jobs that are not glorious but were vital to the game plan.  Now it's on to a very good Hancock team up in the Fargo Dome."

B-E got on the board early as Cade Carlson broke a 55 yard run with 10:59 left in the first quarter. Carlson added a two-point conversion run as the Chargers took an 8-0 lead.  Verndale tied the game at 7:10 on a 5-yard run by Jake Ismil and a pass from Ismil to Dilan Orlando.  Brandon-Evansville took a 16-8 lead at 2:45 of the second quarter when Tony Schaffran scored on a 16-yard run and Keagan Schiele scored on a two-point conversion run.

Marshall Riedel scored two third quarter touchdowns for the Chargers on runs of 6 and 8 yards, increasing their lead to 28-8.

Tanner Bitzan ran the ball in from 12 yards out at the seven minute mark of the fourth quarter, making the final score 34-8.

Brandon-Evansville ran for 453 yards and had 473 yards of total offense on the day as the Chargers recorded 28 first downs.  Carlson ran for 201 yards on 20 carries, Riedel carried the ball 16 times for 96 yards and Keagan Schiele had 95 yards on 12 rushing attempts.  Defensive leaders were Tanner Bitzan (3 solo tackles, 10 assists, Interception).  Schaffran also picked off a pass.

Individual leaders for Verndale were Craig Orlando (13 carries, 148 yards) and Dilan Orlando (6-of-13, 54 yards).  The Pirates ran for 151 yards and passed for 54 yards, for a total of 205 yards.

The Chargers will face Hancock in the Section 4 9-Man championship game on Friday at 12:30pm at the Fargodome.
