Yellowjackets Advance in Section 8AAA Playoffs

After a scoreless first half the Perham Yellowjackets found a way to score a pair of second half touchdowns, while holding Pequot Lakes to just a field goal, as Perham posted a 14-3 Section 8AAA semifinal road win over the Patriots.  Perham will move on to play D-G-F for the Section championship on Thursday at the Fargodome.

Noah Rooney returned an interception 97 yards for the first TD of the game with 2:18 to play in the third quarter, giving the Yellowjackets a 6-0 lead. 

In the fourth quarter, Daltin Ackerman drilled a 35-yard field goal with 10:30 remaining to get the Patriots on the board.  Finn Diggins hauled in a 73 yard pass from Colton Hackel with 1:30 left in the game and Hackel carried the ball into the end zone for the two-point conversion to put the final at 14-3.

Perham finished with 222 (53 rushing, 169 passing) total yards and Pequot Lakes had 215 (102 rushing, 113 passing) total yards on the day.

Hackel was 6-for-15 for 129 yards and a TD.  Diggins led the receiving corps with 4 catches for 109 yards and Hackel was the leading rusher with 41 yards on 13 carries.

Pequot Lakes was led by Zach Jorgens (23 carries, 68 yards), Cale Wolf (14-27, 113 yards) and Bode Magnuson (7 catches, 60 yards).

Defensively, Perham had four quarterback sacks, led by Diggins with 2.   Dawson Kellogg and Rowdie Lindquist each had one sack.  Diggins (11 solo tackles, 6 assists), Kellogg (7 solo tackles, 6 assists), Lindquist (9 solo tackles, 1 assist), Maddux Kovash (7 solo tackles, 3 assists) and Brian Ramos (6 solo tackles, 4 assists) were the tackling leaders.  Hackel joined Rooney with an interception.

Perham improves to 7-3 and Pequot Lakes finishes with a record of 6-4.
