The Barnesville Trojans had 242 rushing yards in the first half and completed 3-of-3 passes for 123 yards, while holding Hawley to 63 yards rushing and 29 yards passing as they built a 48-0 halftime lead on the way to a 48-8 win over the Nuggets on Tuesday night in the Section 8AA quarterfinals.

“I felt we came out and played our best first half of the season, kids played hard and executed on both sides of the ball,” commented Barnesville Head Coach Bryan Strand.  “As a coach I was impressed with their effort and determination.  Despite their 0-9 record, Hawley has improved over the year and did some very good things during the game, Peder and his staff always do a great job.  It was nice to get the win, play the subs in the 2nd half and move onto Saturdays game vs Warroad.  Should be a great test for us.”

Jackson Wahl (3 carries, 70 yards), Hunter Anderson (5 carries, 60 yards) and Adam Tonsfeldt (2 carries, 56 yards) led a Barnesville ground game that compiled 295 rushing yards.

Defensively, Wahl had a fumble recovery and an interception, and Tonsfeldt also picked off a pass.  Jonny Robideau and Joey Mark were both in on ten tackles to lead the Trojans.
