Willmar scored 50 points to edge out Bemidji (57) for first place in the Section 8AA Boys Cross Country Meet on Thursday in Cold Spring.  Alexandria was third with 97 points and Fergus Falls placed sixteenth in the field.

“The Otter boys put it all on the course,” said Coach Derek Meyer. “Each one of these guys had their best effort against the toughest competition they have had all season. I am proud of how the boys competed. Joe Eberle (18:18.1) put an excellent cap on his senior season leading the Otter boys. Luke Schroeder (18:30.9) ran a tactical race on a familiar course. Conrad Lobb (19:02.9) had a gutsy race, good to see him race at the end of the season since he missed last year. Kolsen Papon (19:22.4) held his own on the course and posted a solid finish. Aiden Lindgren (20:23.7) ran his way into the varsity scoring with his fastest finish of the season.

Alexandria qualified Jacob Kleven (16:43.6) for state with a seventh place finish and senior Dane Galloway (16:55.7) with a tenth place finish.  Other Alexandria finishers were Brian Denke (17:13.6) 38th, Joey Carlson (17:26.3) 62nd, and Bennett Wirth (17:30.7) 97th.
