Frazee eliminated Barnesville 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18) in Section 6A volleyball action on Wednesday in Barnesville.

“We had a slow start against an aggressive Frazee team who came out playing to win tonight,” stated Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard. “They came at us attacking and in full force from the start. We struggled a little bit with our passing and putting a ball on the net in serve receive. You could definitely see those tournament jitters coming into play early on our side. We were able to battle with them with our tough defense and tie the first set up at 10, however we trailed the majority of the set until 20 where we put up a great fight behind some big digs from Emily Condon and some aggressive play on the net. In the second set we again started slow but we were able to catch them again at 10-10 where Kim Maesse led us on a serving run to get us the lead. We really worked on playing better defense in the back court and attacking them from all areas on the court. We needed to play to win instead of playing careful. We executed this well by seeing our block better and finding some holes in their scrappy defense.”

Leaders for the Trojans were Lexi Bolgrean (11 kills, 2-0 digs, 12-15 serving, 1 ace), Sam Passa (10 kills, 14/15 serving, 1 ace, 13 digs), Jordan Tschumperlin (5 kills, 14/15 serving, 1 ace), Kim Maesse (20 set assists, 17/17 serving, 1 ace, 8 digs), Katie Newell (10 set assists, 17/17 serving, 5 digs), Emily Condon (8/8 serving, 1 ace, 25 digs), Emily Bredman (4 kills, 3 blocks) and Olivia Sorensen (5 kills, 2 blocks).

“The girls played hard tonight, we just didn’t come out with that needed momentum that we should have,” said Coach Askegaard. “Frazee played a very solid match tonight and didn’t make many errors. We had more serving errors and attacking errors than we have had in a long time. We will learn from our mistakes and move forward as tomorrow is a new day. Huge thank you to our seniors this year, Emily Condon, Emerson Biewer, and Payton Lewis who did a tremendous job leading the varsity team. Their leadership will definitely be missed next season.”
