Top-Ranked Owls Hand Third-Ranked Chargers First Loss

Top ranked Hancock defeated third-ranked Brandon-Evansville 16-6 in the final 9-man regular season contest of the season for both teams on Wednesday night in Brandon.

 

The Chargers struck just two minutes into the game when Marshall Riedel ran 16-yards to the end zone in the first quarter to give the home team a 6-0 lead.

With 1:30 left in the first half the Owls pulled even on a 3 yard pass completion from Preston Rohloff to Daniel Milander and then took an 8-6 lead when Rohloff connected with Jed Feuchtenberger for the two-point conversion.

The Owls added a TD on a 50 yard pass from Rohloff to Brandon Kellenberger and a two-point conversion on a run by Tyler Timmerman just thirty seconds into the second half, taking a 16-6 lead which held up the rest of the way.

Hancock (8-0) ran for 212 yards and passed for 129, giving them a total of 341 yards offensively.  Rohloff completed 10-of-21 passes for 129 yards and a pair of TD’s.  Kellenberger caught four passes for 75 yards and Timmerman had 3 catches for 34 yards.  Timmerman also ran for 167 yards on 33 carries.

Brandon-Evansville (7-1) racked up 258 yards with 197 coming on the ground and 61 through the air.  Keagan Schiele was 3-for-12 throwing the football for 61 yards.  Riedel had 48 yards on one reception and picked up 121 rushing yards on 22 attempts.  Defensive leaders for the Chargers were Mike Cochran (4 solo tackles, 12 assists, 2.5 sacks), Schiele (2 solo tackles, 6 assists), Riedel (2 solo tackles, 5 assists) and Tanner Bitzan (1 solo tackle, 7 assists).

"Tough game tonight all around,” said B-E Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “Hancock played a good game and we made t0o many mistakes.  We will learn from this and get ready for the playoffs."
