Lakers Beat Perham to Remain Unbeaten

Detroit Lakes remained unbeaten on the season with a 40-12 win over the Perham Yellowjackets on Wednesday night.

DL scored with 3:13 to play in the first quarter on a one yard run by Jackson Fields and a Braeden Wimmer kick.

At 11:31 of the second the Yellowjackets scored on a one yard run by Dawson Kellogg, trimming the Lakers lead to 7-6.  The Lakers scored on a 53-yard pass from Max Gunderson to Gabe Hanninen at 9:56 of the second quarter and a Wimmer kick gave DL a 14-6 halftime lead.

In the third quarter Gunderson scored on TD runs of 46 and 8 yards.  Wimmer added one more PAT kick and the Lakers increased their lead to 27-6.

Jake Green scored on a one yard run just three seconds into the fourth quarter, giving DL a 33-6 advantage and a 15 yard run by Joe Heinlein, followed by a Wimmer kick put the score at 40-6.  Perham ended the scoring on a six yard run by Gareth Covington with 1:19 remaining in the game.

The Lakers ran for 249 yards and passed for 144 more, compiling 393 total yards.  Gunderson completed 4-of-10 passes for 144 yards and ran for 71 yards on 7 carries to lead the Lakers.  Hanninen had 71 yards on 9 attempts and Fields contributed 60 yards on 4 attempts.  Reed Mace hauled in two passes for 66 yards.

Perham had 272 total yards (142 rushing, 130 passing).  Finn Diggins carried the ball 23 times, gaining 60 yards to lead Perham.  He also completed 9-of-10 passes for 130 yards.  Noah Rooney caught four passes for 39 yards and Maddux Kovash had two receptions for 55 yards.
