Rockets Close Regular Season with 42-6 Victory

Five different players found the end zone on Wednesday night as the Underwood Rockets ended their regular season schedule with a 42-6 victory over Cass Lake/Bena.

Nik Gardin got the home team on the board at 8:45 of the first quarter and Winston Heifort added the extra-point kick.  At the three-minute mark Chase Janu carried the ball in from the fifteen yard line and another Heifort PAT kick gave the Rockets a 14-0 lead.  With just 38 seconds left in the quarter Zane Swanson scored on a 10 yard run and Heifort made it a 21-0 lead with his third extra point of the night.

In the second quarter Janu scored his second TD on a five yard run and Heifort tacked on the 28th point at 9:30.  With 4:53 left in the half Reed Leabo scored on a one yard run, putting the score at 34-0.

Cass Lake-Bena scored on a one yard run by Chris Vail with 1:22 to play in the third quarter and four seconds into the fourth Jayden Harig completed the scoring with a one yard run.  After a Brien Poser two-point conversion run the Rockets had a 42-6 lead.

Underwood finished the night with 310 rushing yards.  They were led by Poser with 94 yards on 8 carries and Swanson with 58 yards on 6 attempts.  Gardin finished with 53 yards on 6 carries and Janu added 40 on 5 attempts.

Vail had 116 yards on 18 rushes to lead Cass Lake-Bena.  The visitors had 181 yards of total offense, with 175 coming on the ground.

Defensive leaders for the Rockets were Jaxon Rich (5 solo tackles, 1 assist), Slade Moore (4 solo tackles), Poser (4 solo tackles) and Heifort (1 sack).
