The Perham Yellowjackets recorded a 3-set (25-23, 25-17, 25-22) victory over Barnesville on Tuesday night.

“Solid night of volleyball with two great teams battling it out,” said Barnesville Head Coach Megan Askegaard.  “Perham came out in full force against us last night and we definitely saw some of our nerves that I haven’t really noticed yet this season. I thought we really sat back and let them come at us attacking and we just put back a tip on their side way too often. We weren’t as aggressive as we needed to be on our 3rd contact and it worked to their advantage giving them many easy free balls to come at us with. We battled with them many times, but we often felt short on the volley. Our serve receive was a little out of synch tonight too and we played many balls out of system or off the net.”

Leaders for the lady Trojans were Sam Passa (6 kills, 12/12 serving, 1 ace, 20 digs), Jordan Tschumperlin (6 kills, 11/11 serving, 3 digs, 3 block assists, 1 solo block), Lexi Bolgrean (4 kills, 15/15 serving, 16 digs, 2 block assists), Emily Condon (7/7 serving, 1 ace, 18 digs) Katie Newell (7 set assists, 10/11 serving, 1 ace, 8 digs), Kim Maesse (14 set assists, 7/7 serving, 7 digs) and Emily Bredman (4 kills).

“We will learn from our mistakes and move into tournament time being more aggressive and playing like we need to at this point in the season,” said Askegaard. “Our defense was led by Lexi picking up many balls in the center short court and Emily and Sam also helping her out. Our offense was spread out a great deal tonight with many girls getting into the action, we just needed to put a few more balls away on serve receive.”

No Perham information was received.
