Perham Boys and Girls Win Bemidji Cross Country Invitational

For their final regular season meet, the Perham Cross Country team knew how to close with class, finishing in first place for both boys and girls varsity teams at the Bemidji Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday.

 

“Both teams had a successful night and an overall successful season,” commented Head Coach Jeff Morris. “This meet was also important for the seniors as this was their last meet for their high school career. There was a celebratory sendoff for the 12 seniors after the meet.”

The Perham Girls had the top five runners placing within the top 20 medalists. Leading the pack was Mya Morris, followed shortly thereafter by Quincy Anderson.

“The girls team showed an incredible amount of strength at this last meet by pushing through and finishing with strong kicks,” added Morris. “We also celebrated our four senior girls, Abby Tweeton, Madelyn Tangen, Grace Kalina, and Shalie Lipp, after their amazing runs.”

For JV, top 10 finishers are as follows:
Emily VanWatermulen- 2nd place; 21:54
Stella Strong- 3rd place; 21:57
Mia Lung- 4th place; 22:41
Mary Wunderlich- 9th place; 23:03
Myriah Tharaldson- 10th place; 23:04

The Perham Boys finished first with the top six runners placing within the top 20 medalists. Leading the pack was Jakob McCleary, followed shortly thereafter by Brandon O'Hara.

“Our boys team did exceptionally well to finish out the season,” said Morris. “We celebrate our senior boys, Gunnar Anderson, Jack Anderson, Caden Bormann, Drew Birkeland, Chase Belka, Bailey Evenson, Brandon O’Hara, and Owen Warner, after their fantastic runs.”
