Hillcrest Lutheran Academy won their final home volleyball game of the season, beating Ashby 3-2 (25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 17-25, 15-12).

“Our Seniors showed good leadership tonight as they played their final home volleyball game of their High school careers,” said Head Coach Debi Foss of the Comets.  “Olivia Stanton had 12 service points, 3 kills, 5 digs, and 13 set assists.  Molly McGuire had 5 kills, 13 service points which includes 6 ace serves, and 8 digs. Amanda DeKok had 8 kills and 7 service points.  Kate Peterson had 8 service points and 3 ace serves.”

Freshman Hope Adams led all Hillcrest hitters with 11 kills. Maria Ruud had 8 kills and 15 digs.  Mackenzie Foss surpassed the 1000 Dig mark in her high school career, becoming the first lady Comet to ever achieve this goal.  She had 28 digs, 8 service points, and 3 kills on the night.

“It was a great match to conclude our regular games,” noted Foss.  “There were some long volleys and tons of intense moments on both sides of the net.  So proud of the girls for pulling it all together in the 5th set to get the win.  It was 10 weeks of working on skills all coming down to that set. We will wrap up our season at the Fergus Blocktoberfest Tournament and then will have our first playoff game on Monday.”

Ashby was led by Courtney Koefod (24/25 serving, 3 aces, 13 kills, 27 digs), Cailey Schlosser (10/10 serving, 1 ace, 20 digs), Madeline Thompson (16/16 serving), Halle Dahlen (1 ace, 9 kills, 8 digs), Celi Nelson (7 kills, 6 blocks, 2 digs), Amelia Barry (13/16 serving, 27 assists, 24 digs), Kalista Aamot (5 kills, 1 block, 29 digs) and Taleeyah Johnson (8 digs).
