Barnesville swept Sebeka in 3 sets on the road Tuesday night, winning 25-21, 27-25, 25-15.

The lady Trojans fell behind 7-1 in the opening set, but their defensive play carried them back to an 11-11 tie.  At that point they took over control of the set with their block on the net and their defense making big plays.

In the second set the Trojans made some errors on Serve Receive and didn’t pass the ball well to their setters, however, they were able to overcome a few hitting errors early to keep things close.  Barnesville trailed the entire set before tying Sebeka at 24-24 with strong serving from Jordan Tschumperlin and Sam Passa, and strong play at the net from Emily Bredman off sets from Kim Maesse.

The third set belonged to Barnesville as Allie Aadland (8/8 serving, 1 ace) gave them a nice serving spark and defensive look with her passing and serve receive.

“We played great defense and attacked with confidence,” said Head Coach Megan Askegaard of Barnesville.  “Sebeka is a scrappy team that doesn’t have much size, but they make big plays that you don’t always expect.”

Statistical leaders for Barnesville were Passa (12 kills, 20 digs, 8/9 serving), Tschumperlin (4 kills, 15/15 serving, 1 ace, 9 digs), Bredman (9 kills, 3 solo blocks), Emily Condon (27 digs), Lexi Bolgrean (22 digs, 10/11 serving, 4 kills) and Katie Newell (16/17 serving, 13 set assists).
