The M State Men’s Golf Team finished second at the Valley City State Invite on Tuesday at Maple River Golf Course in Mapleton, North Dakota.  The Spartans shot a 328.  Valley City State won the event with a 312 and Dickinson State was third at 340.

Medalist honors went to Tanner Schnathorst of Valley City with a 73.  Grant Inniger led the Spartans with an 81, followed by Wyatt Blomseth and Carter Justesen with rounds of 82, John Vall with an 83 and Trevor Dalbec with an 89.

“We didn’t play well today, but the conditions were very difficult with the cold and wet weather,” said M State Head Coach Jason Retzlaff.  “It has been a great opportunity to play against many four year colleges throughout the fall season and we think that will serve us well in the long run.  We hope our best golf is still in us for Monday and Tuesday in Lake City.”

On the women’s side, Jocelyn Braunberger was the medalist with a 92.  Lexi Poyzer shot a 107.

The Spartans will next compete in the Region XIII/National Qualifier on Monday and Tuesday at The Jewel in Lake City.
