Fergus Falls ended a five game losing streak on Tuesday night when they handed Hillcrest Lutheran Academy a 5-2 loss in high school girls’ soccer.

The Otters opened up the scoring with two corner kick goals in the first five seven minutes of the game.  Kenzy Braeger scored off a corner kick from Ellie Andersen at 38:55 and Anna Anderson scored from Talia Nelson off the second corner kick.

Kindra Peterson scored the first Hillcrest goal nine minutes into the game and Piper Andrews countered with a goal from inside the box, assisted by Maddie Hulter at the 23 minute mark.

Hulter scored a close-range goal just over four minutes into the second half, giving Fergus Falls a 4-1 lead, but Peterson got her second of the game with thirteen minutes to play, bringing the Comets to within 4-2.  With twelve second lefts Talia Nelson headed the ball into the goal off a free kick by Ellie Andersen to wrap up the scoring.

“We played a great game tonight,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “The girls were full of energy and we had fun!  I thought our defense had their best game of the year.  They were physical and communicated very well.  Tonight felt like a complete game.  We played all 80 minutes in each position of the game.”

The Otters will play at Moorhead on Saturday at 11:00am.  Fergus Falls is now 6-6 on the season.

Hillcrest falls to 5-7 with their third straight loss.  They will travel to Walker on Thursday night to face Walker-Hackensack-Akeley.
