Owls Impress with 42-6 Win over Verndale

The Hancock Owls were impressive in their 42-6 win over the Verndale Pirates on Friday night.  The Owls led 8-6 after one quarter and established control of the game with a sixteen point second quarter to up the lead to 24-0 at the half.  They led 40-0 after three and added a safety in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

 

Verndale struck first when Jake Ismil broke a 36 yard run for six points at 4:42 of the first quarter.  Hancock responded on their next possession when Brandon Kellenberger hauled in a 14 yard pass from Preston Rohloff.  That pair also connected on the two-point conversion pass as the Owls moved in front of the Pirates, 8-6.

In the second quarter, Jed Feuchtenberger scored on runs of 30 and 4 yards.  Rohloff hooked up with Luke Joos and Kellenberger for a pair of two-point conversion passes.

Tyler Timmerman added a 74 yard TD run with 5:04 left in the third quarter and once again Rohloff and Kellenberger got together on the two-point conversion pass.  With 1:59 left in the quarter Gideon Joos scored on a 47 yard run, followed by Rohloff hitting Daniel Milander for two points.

Hancock ran the ball 35 times for 305 yards and finished with 387 total yards.  Verndale was held to 165 yards on 45 carries and 212 total yards.

Individual leaders for the Pirates were Craig Orlando (17 carries, 83 yards) and Jake Ismil (22 carries, 76 yards, 3 catches, 17 yards).
