New York Mills hosted Lake Park-Audubon in high school football on Friday night and the Eagles earned a big 43-27 section win over the Raiders.

“We played very well and did a nice job vs. LPA,” said Eagles Head Coach Matt Radniecki.  “It really helped that first drive that we were able to go down and Daunte Leiran scored from 9 yards out and Bren Salo connected with Derrik Wegscheid for the 2 point conversion.  What we worked on worked for us and the kids confidence really rose after that first drive.”

The Eagles were able to continue the momentum on offense with their next series going down to score another TD and increase their lead to 16-0.

“We then got a little lax but give LPA credit they didn't quit and scored on a 46 yard touchdown run,” reported Radniecki.

At halftime New York Mills held a 24-14 advantage.

“We challenged the team to respond at halftime,” said Radniecki.  “They did a nice job as we scored the next 19 points to seal the win.  On offense we rushed for nearly 300 yards again and our defense was led by Elliot Mann who played very well in the middle for us.  Our offensive and defensive lines did a nice job for us again and they really rose to the challenge that the coaches gave them this week. It was a great parents night win and I would like to take a minute to thank the parents for all that they do.  Thanks again!”

The JV team recorded a 40-0 over Frazee earlier this week.  “It was a nice win for this group as they continue to get better and better,” stated Radniecki.  “It was exciting for them to get their second straight shutout win!  Nice job guys.”
