After the storm cleared on Friday night the Rothsay Tigers would eventually play host to the Wheaton Herman-Norcross Warriors.  As both teams warmed up, lightning would force a rain delay as it did most games in the area.

Minutes before 8pm the game would start as the Tigers would kick off to the Warriors.  Mistakes would be a reoccurring theme of the night for the Tigers as they would slip and kick the ball to only the 50 yard line.  The Tiger defense would start out strong but couldn’t get off the field as the Warriors would convert a 4th down and eventually score on a 3 yard pass to take the lead 6-0.

The Tigers would fumble on their next possession giving a very short field to the Warriors who eventually would score on a 12 yard touchdown run and with the 2pt conversion would go up 14-0.  The Tigers would gain a little back as they would score quickly on a 72 yard touchdown run and cut the lead to 14-6 still early in the 1st quarter. That would be the highlight of the night for the Tigers as Wheaton Herman-Norcross would score 5 more times in the first half ending with a 35 yard pass late in the half.  They would score 2 more times in the second half for a final score of 60-6.

“We had a lot of mental mistakes and couldn’t prevent the big play,” Rothsay Coach Joshua Nordick said.  “We did some good things tonight and will look to build upon that.”

The Tigers were led by Colby Larson who had 117 yards on 10 carries.  The Tiger defense was led by Karsyn Zilmer and Mason Kadel who both had double digit tackles.
